QC Pride, Inc. participated in the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is the only bi-state parade of its kind that also crosses the Mighty Mississippi River. This was our 3rd year participating, our first with a float, and we won 1st Place for the Most Unique Entry! Our dedicated and creative float crew, under the guidance of Andrew Glasscock and Paul Kelty, utilized repurposed items to create the entire float. We chose the theme of Emerald City and incorporated the parade theme of “Quad Cities, USA” by adding pennants with the names of the cities and a banner that read, “There’s No Place like Quad Cites, USA!” Click the photo above to see more pics of the winning float and it's characters.

Thank you to all of the Emerald City characters who adorned our float or walked along side handing out pride-colored beads to the many enthusiastic and appreciative folks along the parade route. It was a chilly day but the positive reception completely warmed our hearts. There is truly No Place like the Quad Cities!
